Dental supply
Dental braces are used in orthodontics to correct the alignment of teeth and their position. These are fixed appliance and also known as Orthodontics Braces. They can be used on either lower set of teeth, upper side of teeth, or at both sides. They are used with conjunction of other appliances to crate spaces between teeth, widen the jaws etc.
How dental brace works- Force applied to teeth by arch wire which pushes the tooth in a particular direction and stress is created within the periodical ligament. A biological response leads to remodeling of bones due to modification of periodontal blood supply. A tooth can move 1 mm per month. Two different kinds of bone resorption are possible.
Types of Dental braces
Traditional braces- They are made of stainless steel.
Gold plated stainless steel braces- They are helpful for people who are allergic to nickel.
Ceramic braces- Treatment time is more because they are weaker then metals.
Lingual braces- They are fitted behind the teeth but difficult to adjust.
Complications and risks
Mouth sores- They are made due to oral obstructions from components of the braces.
Plaque- They are easily created in the fine metalwork of braces. Proper oral hygiene by brushing and flossing is required when wearing braces to prevent tooth decay decalcification or unpleasant color changes to the teeth.
